Wave Electric Field Data

[ Go Back ]

Here is our first look at actual SIERRA wave electric field channels. We have used accurate timing from GPS and have also calibrated these channels, so the time and scale _should_ be correct. Also, it should be noted that this data is _combined_ data from both the Redstone AND TOTS telemetry tracks, hence there are few dropouts.

I will not make many comments here, except that the VLF12 channel seems to have slightly more power on the main only and that is an electric gain issue, likely due to another instrument using that particular boom pair. (NOTE: VLF12_M means the VLF channel V1-V2 and M is for Main ayload; A=Aft payload and F=Forward payload.)

(Each plot can be obtained as a *.ps file (better resolution) by clicking on it or "saving target as".)

Now as the plots follow, they are all the same format. Time is on the X axis from launch time (T_zero=Jan 14 2002 08:23:05UT). The Y axis is frequency and PSD is on the color scale. All scales are the same.

Now we zoom in to see any lower frequency structure...same format.. different frequency scale.

Now just one at 650... a low frequency example...
